Neuropuncture™
What is Neuropuncture™?
Neuropuncture™ is a modern evidenced-based and research supported neuroscience acupuncture system. It is an integration of 21st century medical sciences with traditional acupuncture. Neuropuncture™ allows me to more effectively treat conditions ranging from mental health to internal medicine to orthopedic cases by targeting specific neural pathways, regions of the brain or specific receptors to neuromodulate and rehabilitate the patient’s nervous system back into a state of health and homeostasis.
Neuropuncture utilizes electrical acupuncture techniques with specific frequencies to achieve the desired clinical outcomes. A mild electrical current is applied to the needles and provides the stimulus to the nervous system to begin rehabilitation and regulation. It is a valued healing modality it today’s world where so many suffer from chronic illness and auto-immune conditions who are looking for an alternative to pharmaceuticals and their side-effects. We can support the body to heal naturally and return to its natural state of wellbeing along with a healthy diet and lifestyle, with virtually no side effects.
How is Neuropuncture™ different than acupuncture?
Neuropuncture™ utilizes a mild electrical frequency applied to the needles to stimulate different neural tissue or receptor sites to modulate and repair the nervous system. Compared to traditional manual acupuncture, research shows that electro-acupuncture is more effective. Neuropuncuture™ is an acupuncture system, so we are using the same traditional acupuncture points. However, the framework of Neuropuncture™ allows me to understand what part of the nervous system I need to target along with the correct electrical stimuli to achieve the best clinical outcomes.
How can Neuropuncture™ help me?
Because Neuropuncture works by stimulating the nervous system, it is a complete acupuncture system that can treat the whole body.
Mental Health Conditions: Neuropuncture targets specific regions of the brain, receptor sites and neural pathways and can encourage the body to regulate neurotransmitters thereby effectively treating depression, anxiety, PTSD, Insomnia and stress conditions.
Internal Medicine: Digestive disorders (IBS/ IBD, Crohn’s, Colitis), immune disorders, PMS or menopausal symptoms are treated with Neuropuncture as we can use specific Neuropuncture techniques that communicate with our organs. We can effectively modulate our endocrine, digestive and immune systems through the right application.
Chronic Pain and Injuries: Neuropuncture can treat chronic pain from arthritis, neck and back pain, spinal conditions, injuries and more by neuromodulating pain signaling in the brain and reducing inflammation and supporting the repair of injured tissue.
Neurological Conditions: Neuropuncture is a wonderful tool we can use for treating neuropathy, sciatica, tinnitus, restless leg syndrome, migraines, stroke rehab, and Parkinson’s Disease because we can target the effected nerves and apply the electrical stimulation to begin to reduce inflammation and restore healthy nerve conduction. Studies on Parkinson’s Disease show Neuropuncture™ to be effective in correcting symptoms and slowing the progression of the disease.
Does Neuropuncture™ or electrical acupuncture hurt?
The electrical simulation applied to the acupuncture is mild and low intensity. I use an FDA approved electro-acupuncture machine (approved for acupuncture use). As an example, it takes one amp to light a light bulb. With the machines I use, the amperage is either 1/1,000,000 or 1/1000 of one amp depending on the current used. Most patients like the electrical stimulation and some even fall asleep while it is running.
How many treatments will I need?
Because Neuropuncture (or any acupuncture system) works cumulatively, a series of treatments is typically needed to heal or correct conditions. Other than an acute injury or recent imbalance, which may correct in 1-3 treatments, chronic cases can take from 6-12 treatments to achieve the desired outcome. This is because we are creating changes in the nervous system, including new gene expression. The frequency of treatment is also important. Acupuncture research shows 2 treatments per week is what is needed to support the neuroplastic changes. I often recommend coming in twice per week for 6 weeks, but every case is unique, and we tailor accordingly. We may achieve the desired outcomes with once per week treatments, but often the changes take longer.
